It is difficult to gaze upon Perth's numerous stone and brick buildings without wishing to know more of their history, and thankfully several historic plaques relate interesting details concerning the buildings and their residents. 'The Summit,' as this grand home became known was built in 1824 by lawyer James Boulton and sits majestically atop the highest hill in Perth overlooking the Tay River and Basin. Boulton was indirectly involved in Perth's fatal duel and employed Elizabeth Hughes, whom the duel was fought over, as a governess for his children.
